The Village of McCool Junction is home to McCool Junction Public Schools. McCool Junction’s Public School is a K-12 facility which continues to grow, now having 292 students. The elementary school was built in 1965, with the junior/senior high facility constructed in 1916. Through the state’s option program McCool Junction Public School District also educates students that come from nine other communities. Operating expenses last year were $4,267,928, which is an average cost of $14,616 per student. Eighty percent of the McCool Junction high school students take the ACT Test, with an average score of 21. Ninety percent of graduating seniors attend college, with the remaining 10 percent entering the labor market. Vocational classes are offered at the high school. The McCool Junction Learning Center, and Public Library were completed for the 2007-2008 school year.
